quite a good few days (:

♥ 11:28 am

the few days after my last post has been quite good:

1. much ado about nothing was great! well, except for the vietnamese spring rolls which turned out to be quite disappointing. apart from that, even with the skygods threatening to give us their showers of blessings, they were in quite a good mood and kinda spared us the rain. in adrian pang's words, "thanks for crossing your fingers with us.....the skygods crossed their legs!"- the mark of a true comedian. haha. the show was great, albeit i had difficulty comprehending the shakespearean language in the first half of the show. it's not surprising coming from a not-so-avid reader like myself, but thank goodness for the synopsis, if not i think i'd have just zonked myself out throughout the show!

2. friday was IJ FIESTA. like i'd agreed, i helped out with the foodstalls for a couple of hours with joyce. what supposed to be a manning-the-spaghetti-stall session turned out to be one that let us play with food! we ended up at 1 of the 2 mini burgers stall, toasting butter rolls, spreading butter and laying out pickles! we also had the company of other 4/1 people like MJ (whom students call her cai lao shi for the sole reason that she's doing relief teaching there) porsi and jianeng. after manning the mini burger stall for 2 hours we decided to roam around the school whilst feasting on ice lollies, trying out hand at the games that we probably could have invented should we be lower sec students again. it was fun that i guess many of us needed in a long while, and to have it at our alma mater made it especially meaningful.

3. yesterday mummy brought my sis and i to PS at my sis' request. mummy ended up spending a bomb at esprit for sis' 2 pairs of jeans and a blouse for me, hence earning us a 1-year membership. and i was utmost glad that mummy decided to let the membership be registered under my name (since i'm always popping into esprit shops whenever i'm out) so i was HAPPY HAPPY. :D dropped by at fox after that and thanks to mummy's credit card with her company she managed to save almost 6 bucks of sis' shorts! oh the awesome-ness of having or being in the company of someone with a credit card! it was dinner at the yatch club with the family, and we had a nice waiter serving us that was quite refreshing and the F1 race (monaco) that interested us quite some time during dinner.

anyway i guess the highlight of this week will be THE START OF GSS! *imagine my intense joy here!* and FLEA MARKET. come support M&M!!!! (michelle p. and marie)

reality tv junkie?

♥ 1:32 pm

i'm gonna write one super long post about all the stuff that's been happening on reality tv, but first i'm gonna wait for american idol to end its run (that which will make me uber UBER sad!!) before i pour all my grievences (i hope will be non-existent) and rantings over here. hehe.

and so the reality tv shows i've been keeping up with since the year started has finally ended. last week it was the amazing race, this week it was survivor and this morning, american idol.

amazing race was great, honestly i'd wouldn't have any other teams competing on the final leg; each would have made history in some way or another. the asian team of tammy and victor won, which really makes us asians so proud! i'd love to see the mother&son team of margie and luke win, but things happen for a reason, in this case, it's still acceptable. haha.

this season of survior has been quite crazy! LOADS of backstabbing and close races that saw my sis and i practically jumping out of our seats! the finale was exciting, with hot favourite J.T. faking it at the end! hahaha. what a time!

and then you have american idol 8. WHOA WHOA WHOA. performances last night totally brought the house down! and can i say that this season of american idol has the best contestants? (: i told my mum and sis that i was happy with the final 3, and definitely the final 2, so it wouldn't really matter much whoever took the crown. though adam lambert had been consistent throughout the final 13, i felt that kris allen really stepped it up at the final showdown and sang great! his winning the crown came as quite a surprise cos it was quite apparent to me that the judges preferred adam lambert. with that said it's still america's decision, and the only thing that matters is that we can look forward to songs from these 2 in the near future. (:

i recall my shopping spree at suntec with godma 2 fridays ago. WHOA that was some major shopping going on, nothing i've ever seen! *phew* other than the 2 blouses godma bought for me at mango and a tank top for sis from fox, she bought a whole bunch of other stuff that made my jaw drop HAHA. but it was a totally fun time with her. my first day out with my godma since forever (:

and 2 tuesdays ago it was a trip down to orchard with my fellow shopaholic soon-li! before most of the shopping we stuffed ourselves with chocolate cake at nydc! thank goodness the walk between shops made it somewhat less sinful. haha. it got kinda frustrating that all the bookstores in town didn't have the book that mum wanted...so it turns out that smaller bookstores like mph in novena square had mum's book, and kinda proves the theory that smaller bookstores would stock the not-so-popular books cos that'll be the last place that many would go to to get their book. *ok that was too long a sentence, it kinda doesn't make sense* anyway, what kind of day out /shopping trip with soon-li would it be if we didn't bring anything back right? soon-li bought some pretty scarves from forever 21 while i bought some supplies for none other than my blogshop biz heh.

last night i had dinner with my angel mich law! cantonese food again, but doesn't bug me cos i'm quite easy with food! besides, mich law knows the best eating places considering she's quite the foodie at our age. haha. besides the usual chatter over sumptuous food, we shopped a bit at nearby the cathay, and mich law ended up spending about $30 on her stuff, which made her quite guilty haha. but what matters is that she's happy with her buys (:

can't wait for this evening- i'm gonna be watching much ado about nothing with mum! (:

THANK YOU ALL THOSE WHO CAME DOWN TO SUPPORT US 4 GIRLS AT THE H.E.A.R.T FLEA MARKET OVER THE WEEKEND! (: YOUR PRESENCE MEANT A LOT A LOT A LOT TO US, SO DID YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO OUR STALL (:

kudos to my neighbour mei lin, godma, benji, mai, han, the 2 T16 guys, T14 people: mich, david, jia yi, james, jethro, johan, martin and marcus, all of whom came down specially to see us girls in action.

with the flea market over, we're all dead tired, but nonetheless happy- for being able to make profits and clear some of our stuff. the first day was quite hectic and somewhat disorganised cos due to our non-existent experience. but even with that we managed well with quite good sales and loads of support from our friends and relatives who came down to support us. (i've credited all you who came down) oh and extra kudos to johan who stayed almost the entire day, treating us to food and drink and helping us clear our stall, and my mum who helped us set up our stall.

2nd day was more organised with more experience under our belt. we were more prepared and armed with equipment aid in our setting up of the stall. penelope didn't join us cos she had schoolwork to finish, while mandy had coaching most of the day, and joined us for a couple of hours in the afternoon. so it was clarisse and me most of the day, but even so we did quite well. in under 2 hours we were totally ready and utmost happy and excited at our vast improvement from day 1. our stall layout was much MUCH better than the previous day, mostly cos we were also more selective in what we brought to sell for 2nd day of sales. haha. the last 1 hour was quite crazy with the evening crowd and cos we were slashing prices to clear our stuff. packing up was another story; with only 2 pairs of hands, clarisse and i managed to keep 4 person's worth of stuff. haha. at the end of it all, we're really tired but quite satisfied with the result of the flea market.

the flea market is definitely memorable experience even as i fail to recall everything that went on. but there were little snippets that made a big girl like me as excited as a little girl. on our first day we met this little girl and her mum from the ballet school where i work, which was heart-warming cos it reminded me of the time when i was a little girl myself going around places with my mum and buying little knick knacks for me. and another little girl on day 2 all decked out in pink was so cute when she obdiently listened to her mum and thanked me for giving her a discount on a handphone keychain i sold to her. and the lady on the morning of day 2 was really a big customer of ours when she bought 6 blouses and some 2nd hand accessories. oh and clarisse and i were quite happy when she commented that we provided her with good service haha. (:

after the 2nd and final day of the flea market i went home to celebrate mummy's birthday and mothers' day over a pizza dinner and cake with our relatives. (: at least we managed to have some sort of celebration on my mum's extra special day!

HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY MUM, HAPPY (belated) MOTHERS' DAY to all mummies out there and CONGRATS AND AN EXTRA SPECIAL MOTHERS' DAY TO MRS LA'BROOY ON THE ARRIVAL OF HER 2ND BUNDLE OF JOY (:

since i last blogged, there has been quite a few exciting things happening around here. but first off...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICH P. !!!!
to one of my favourite gal pals i know, GOD BLESS YOU WITH A THOUSAND ORANGES (ok i'm joking haha!) and everything you need for a smooth sailing year! (:

wednesday i talked to quite a few people before and after work. felt quite happy about it. (: and i was greeted by a BRAND NEW PIANO in the other studio!! :D in ernest's words: awesome lah. (: the piano had a rice mahogany colour, the feel of the piano was great, and so was the sound that a brand new piano naturally produces. in short, work really made my day. (:

american idol last night was perhaps one of the hardests weeks ever. i didn't want any of them to go out! and all my supposed predictions on who was to be eliminated were totally wrong. now it's just a guy's race to the end, next week is gonna be even tougher cos I REALLY LIKE THE FINAL 3!

and last night i tossed and turned in bed for quite some time before getting some real shut eye for the night. i don't know why i couldn't sleep for the 2 hours or so, but my mind was racing with thoughts on this weekend's flea market and all it's preparations, on what's gonna happen today, etc etc etc. hope it doesn't happen tonight, need a good rest for a jam-packed weekend!

♥ 4:16 pm

soon-li and i spent the day out at vivo engaging in the 2 activities that we're probably best at- shopping and watching movies. yesterday's movie, x-men origins: wolverine, was the 3rd movie in 3 weeks! wow, a record is on it's way! the action scenes in the movie were good, but the storyline......hmmm, that's another story. haha. before the movie we stuffed outselves at marche over loads of small talk and gossip heh. and after the movie we shopped! (: tried on clothes at pull & bear, only to find myself spending over $100 for a plaid blouse and a pair of grey jeans! in all due respect, i felt the money was well spent, more so cos the shirt looked nice on me (even though the red in the blouse is not my favourite colour) and that the jeans were in a colour i've been hunting for ages and already discounted! (: walked around even more, admiring the countless accessories, clothes and shoes on display. soon-li bought a cuff from forever 21, after trying on several bangles and rings which became slightly problematic (i won't elaborate on details) all in all, it was a great day out with one of my favourite shopping partners and long time friend! (:

till the next post, it's loads of preparation for this weekend's flea market!!

♥ 2:05 pm

yesterday was filled with a buzz of activities for me, from day to night. i'm so tired now after a whole morning's work, but that's not stopping me from quickly penning (or typing) down my experience of just yesterday alone.

even on a saturday some of us at home decided to wake up early to go for the assisi home & hospice funfair at SJI(I). thermal scanners greeted us at the entrance (no prizes for guessing why) and then it was stalls, stalls and stalls of everything. sis, our neighbour ML and i decided to get henna tattoos done. quite unfortunately mine's slanted and not well drawn...aye thank goodness it's only temporary haha. sis got hers done on her ankle which disallowed her to wear her shoes until it dried. so for a while she was walking around bare-footed, which was quite funny in some instances. photo taking with some 'attractions', bargain-hunting (and i bought a set of vintage bangles FINALLY), ben & jerry's ice cream before lunch and some roaming around before i left early to join the class for lunch.

lunch was at manhattan fish market at iluma. as usual army stories/experiences formed most of the conversation, and even the smallest thing in army is truly fascintating! went to the arcade at iluma and bugis junction for the afternoon, watching people win 2 or 3 gigantic teddy bears for goodness-knows-who. from all that excitement or apparent thrill, we decided to try our hand at those kinda games, but really these machines are programmed to act the way they are haha. evening came and we landed ourselves at macs for before-dinner snack. after some chit chat martin and i left them as i proceed to join the ij girls for dinner at city hall while martin left for church.

dinner was another interesting affair haha. jo had just returned from paris not long hence i suppose the meet-up. the whole way through it was utmost entertaining as we occupied ourselves with loads of gossip and catch-ups- i felt i was watching a soap opera haha. delle came later from her tuition, but joyce and i had to leave soon after. albeit not many words can accurately describe dinner, one word does fit aptly and it's AWESOME. (:

reached home late and rushed all the washing up and packing for today's activities. disrupted sleep last night due to the thunderstorm didn't help the fact that i had to wake up early this morning for mass and then work. but i'm still proud of myself for staying awake throughout cos my 2 favourite priests at novena church were present today! fr simon gave a very nice sermon, as usual; and since it's good shepherd sunday today, the sermon was about celebrating one's calling (to religious order). but in my mind i was thinking: celebrating my calling (perhaps to the Arts area?) haha.

so after a whole morning's work i'm finally home for some much needed rest. need to go nap soon if not i'll barely last the rest of the day.

#300!!

♥ 1:59 pm

whee this is my 300th post! *pats myself on the back* and on labour day/may day! (:

while this day practically gives everyone the permission to slack around, i think the day is pretty much normal for me, too much like a saturday to make me remember that it's actually a friday. i spent my morning watching the dark knight that sis got mum to rent back for the weekend. yes yes, it's a good show, and you can call me slow.

yesterday i went back to cj to meet up with some council people over lunch. they had the awards ceremony in the morning, which explains why ngee derk was back in singapore. other than the usuals of catch-up, we went to collect our SGCs printed on nice MOE paper in a nice MOE file; although i really don't understand why they ended my testimonial with the 'End-Of-Section' words printed on a separate sheet of paper. =.= went to work after that, during which i had a fun time playing songs from the nutcracker ballet for the kids.

whatever it is, this labour day is truly turning out to be quite slack for me, don't think mum and i can drag our lazy bum bums to sculpture square to recce the flea market venue, and make myself make the same pieces of jewelry for next week's flea market haha.
