So it took me a while to recall what I wanted to post here. I'd the idea of posting it sooner but other activities over the weekend took precedence, and with the weekend almost over (BOO) this is a good time to reflect on what my colleague had told me at work this week.
Some exciting (good) news at work the past week meant that I could treat my family, boyfriend and myself to something special this month. With the boyfriend heading to Korea in just over a week's time, and a hole in the sole of his 3 year old converse shoes, we opted for me to get him a new pair this weekend. So shopping was on the agenda for Saturday (yesterday) and that was one of the main things in my head leading up to Friday. TGIF and the unbearable weather meant that it was hard to concentrate at work, and the occasional rants to my colleague made my colleague say a couple of things.
My colleague observed at how the sheer mention of my boyfriend revealed a smile on my face with a radiance otherwise not as evident in other photographs. For example, my birthday photo with the boyfriend from just over a week ago. Or else, a picture taken by the boyfriend at some random venue or time of the day. These sort of pictures made me smile in a way I otherwise wouldn't. They were nice pictures, my colleague commented. And truth to be told, I sort of agree with him.
It made me think how much my boyfriend means to me. Maybe for a couple of people in my CSS or catholic community in general, this may come across as some form of idolatry (to put things in a brutally honest way) or obsession. Perhaps the way my relationship with my boyfriend hasn't always progressed in the most ideal/perfect way. But I think after having some time to think about it, I sort of thank God for this happening to me. Because over the last few years, my experiences, while at times have pulled me away from God, in recent times have seemed to slowly bring me back closer to Him. I see myself trying to care for my boyfriend so deeply, the sort of care one would show to someone whom you know you'd spend the rest of your life with.
It seems early to say this now, and I know that this comes at a random time in my life and if anyone in my family knew I'm saying all these stuff on public domain they'd think I'm half mad. But like some friends I've spoken to recently already know, he is the one. Sure he's not the catholic boy that many catholic girls want to have in a life partner. Sure he is not always the most sane person around growing up in his teens. And sure he is not the most outspoken guy around, and still doing university, and etc etc. My boyfriend and I haven't made plans for the future but we know that the future is our future. It's faith that we try to have in each other that we will work our future together. We pinky promised and made a deal but it's a mutual promise that is from the heart and with conviction and commitment.
Perhaps I'm saying all these as a form of reassurance to myself given that the boyfriend is going to Korea next week for 6 weeks (the longest we would be apart). But at a time where I see my seniors from school getting proposed/engaged/married, this is just my personal reflection of where I stand in my life, relationship-wise. I don't think many people read blogs anymore but to those who do, I think I'm not really afraid of people asking/knowing what the status is of the relationship between me and my boyfriend. 3.5ish years has revealed a lot to us and I think we are pretty clear about what we want out of our lives and of each other.
My message to him is this: I love you baby, forever and ever.

It's my first post of the month, but I had quite a good time since I last blogged (:
There was an impromptu ice-cream date with the boyfriend on a weeknight. I was the one to suggest meeting that night, so we met at Udders for, well, ice-cream and though it was short, it felt really sweet to meet him. (:
The weekend before the last, the boyfriend and I went shopping for my birthday present! That was after enjoying our Macs breakfast which I had been craving for a while! Although we walked lots of Ion and some of Wisma, we couldn't find anything for me so we had to take another day during the week to get me a gift. Dinner was with the family at RSYC, to have an earlier celebration for my birthday (: Ah Boh joined us that evening, and we had a nice sunset over our dinner (:
Hashbrown!

Thank goodness I survived the week till my leave came! Thursday finally arrived and I met Mich for lunch! We had a good one at Victor's Kitchen over dim sum and Cantonese food, then froyo at Bugis+ while the boyfriend came down so that he and I could go shopping later on. Mich and I did some major catching up- from work to relationships and lots of other things. Typical girls one would say. Then, the boyfriend and I went around the Bugis area shopping for my birthday gift, again. Saw a couple of nice clothes, but decided on a pair of brown strappy suede heels from New Look since the clothes I eyed were either too ex or not appealing enough, and that those heels were something that I don't already have. Went home for dinner and Twelve Cupcakes birthday cakes, so the birthday eve was pretty good (:
Me and my very pretty gal pal Mich.
Burfday Cupcakes!
Blowing out candles like that was a bit tricky. Took me 3 breaths and likely some showers of blessings.
Me and Ernest. (No picture of me and the family on the blog cos' they're internet-shy)
My birthday itself was pretty fun too. Met Godma for brunch at Oriole Cafe at Somerset at Mich's recommendation. We had a good mushroom cream pasta with truffle oil among other things, and a good chat, and gift exchange! A little of shopping around the area too cos' Godma had a Kikki K. birthday voucher (so we got some pretty ballpoint pens), and stuff like that. The afternoon was spent with the boyfriend- we borrowed the parent's car to drive to Turf City (again) to check out Pasar Bella. To Ernest's surprise (horror or dismay maybe), the whole area wasn't as big as I made it out to be, and we figured it's cos the first time I went there, I explored the WHOLE area instead of just the Pasar Bella area. So yeah. Misleading, just a bit. Saveur was where I chose for my birthday dinner, and the food was pretty good for the prices they charge. It was a little pricer than I expected, likely cos we picked wine to go with the chomp. The night ended off with the long-awaited Corrinne May concert! Corrinne May sang beautifully to the point that when she sang 'Five Loaves and Two Fishes', I couldn't help but shed a couple of tears (the song just strikes a chord with me). Ernest noted that her voice is a bit unsuitable for complicated arrangements (with drums and lots of guitar and some strings) which is clearly evident in her recent albums, but whatever it was, I am a Corrinne May fan and watching her concert is something I can finally strike off from my bucket list (not like I do have a bucket list).

Saveur!
Saveur's pasta! Very nice, $4.90!!
My boyfriend and his mushroom cappucino (essentially fancy mushroom soup). For novelty's purpose.
Ernest's duck confit. Pretty nice. $9.90!
Weekend was the Every Little Thing market at the MICA building! The boyfriend came to help out since he missed the two fleas I did the last few months. The place was pretty good cos it was fully air-conditioned. The crowd was not bad too cos' they're probably those who can greatly appreciate artsy stuff by independent artists like me. Crystallise Me! did quite well, and we managed to sell lots of earrings like we haven't been able to do at the flea markets at *Scape. So it was a job well done and looking forward to my next participation with Public Garden!
Setting up! #likeaboss, or Boss At Work.
Find me there! (Shameless advertising)
A dragonfly decided to accompany us by resting on the rack. Eventually, it did fly away haha.
Making some alterations for a bracelet for a customer.
My blood, sweat and tears...not. Just the fruits of my labour and creativity (:
With that, now it's planning for my next awesome weekend...hmmm...
