Leap Year 2012

Happy Leap Day everyone! (:

It's sorta a special day, cos' we only get it once every 4 years. More so for Ernest and me, cos it's the first leap day we're spending it as a couple (:

He told me today the significance of the leap year- that a woman can propose to a man and that the man would actually have to agree to the woman's request. I sorta knew this already; I blogged about it on the last leap day 4 years ago. Heh. Joel's FB status a couple of hours ago said something about how he remembered how the last leap day. And I sorta do, given the fact that I remember blogging about the leap day!

Anyhow, I'm grateful for another leap day. 1 more day in the year with the loved ones- what's there not to like? (:

Cry it out

♥ 5:22 pm

It was again, a tough day yesterday, as it had been the entire week. I'd blogged about the first most trying event that happened earlier this week, but I decided against posting it to keep it more personal, and to just save my readers the negative energy from that post.

Week 4 has passed and it's only gotten tougher to manage. I reached my breaking point yesterday. Probably cos' I bottled it up in effort to save my loved ones from my endless complaints and rantings. But that bit me back in the face when emotions got the better of me. I thank my boyfriend for being there for me last evening, it was the best and only thing I could ever ask for in the midst of all the tears that flowed from my eyes. In one evening it happened not just once, but twice. Yeah, that's how bad it was.

Releasing it really helped though. Adults would probably tell youngsters like us not to cry in the face of such adversity. But having gone through less than adults in terms of life experience, and coming from a background where I was taught that it isn't healthy to keep it in, I felt that it was important that I cried it out. Cos' there's no better way to do it than that.

Although I know that through this experience I learnt that I was unable to manage my emotions and basically the environment that I'm living in, the boyfriend helped me realise that I am actually very much in control of the situation I'm in. Basically doing things the way I would and am willing to, and then leave it to the rest. Caring less about what the larger world thinks about me. And just taking things a day at a time, and not thinking so far into the future.

I clearly remember how when I first started dating the boyfriend, I'd asked him what would happen if things didn't work out between us. His reply to me was not to think so far into the future, take it one step at a time, and not to think of the 'what ifs'. I've adopted that thinking since as our relationship progresses, but I guess it's hard to apply it in other areas of my life. Hence, the nervous breakdown.

The boyfriend also related the story of The Chosen People that Moses had led out of Egypt into the Promise Land. How for 40 years they didn't have food, but that God promised them that they'd be fed. He fed them with manna from Heaven, and each time God gave them food, He gave them enough for one day at a go.

Case in point.

I guess what this has taught me is to just find strength in the things and people that really do matter in my life. To soldier on like a true fighter. I admit I'm not the most persistent of peoples, but in light of this I will try.

It is only right that I thank my boyfriend again for being there for me yesterday. I know that I took him by surprise when I suddenly started crying as I rested my head on his lap and didn't tell him what had brought me to tears. I'm grateful that he hugged me real close, lent me his shoulder to cry on, and did everything that a person in his capacity would do in such a situation.

All this after a tough week for us. I couldn't ask for more.

Be my valentine.

It was the best Valentines' Day by far. There was Blue Moo on Friday (refer to my last post), a little of boyfriend flavour on Saturday, the awesome and much anticipated Spring Awakening on Sunday, Valentines' Day eve at Little Part 1 cafe, and Valentines' Day in school.

Pictures say a thousand words and for now I think it's sufficient to say all I need to say, given that I spent half my Valentines' Day in school, that it's 12:12am, and that I've got class tomorrow.

But I shall cut back on a little sleep just to end of the Valentines' Day mood proper.

Blue Moo was as per what I mentioned in my previous post.

Saturday was my interview with a local accounting firm. It went ok since I've been offered a job (but whether I'd be taking it up is a different matter that doesn't deserve mention here). Ernest and I hung out a while after for lunch, a bit of studying time and computer-shopping. Haha. Good but tiring day though.

Sunday was good. Spring Awakening lived up to expectations somewhat, considering that it's a local production (by that very talented Pangdemonium Productions). I wasn't as noob (thankfully) cos' I educated myself a month or two back, so it made following the story a lot easier than if I hadn't. Provocative, yes, most definitely. Plus it definitely showed quite some emotion and stirred some feelings. The singing was good for a small cast, and so were the songs. (: We enjoyed it thoroughly; Ernest said he would totally skip 10 movies in order to catch this. Haha. A big fan he is. Anyway, it was a little birthday shopping for a friend after the show, and dinner at Everything with Fries.

Valentines' Day eve was spent in school, except for the evening when Ernest and I headed to the Little Part 1 cafe in Upper Thomson for dinner. The food was good, and with beer (I had the rose beer and he had the Chimay) it was even better ho ho (haven't had alcohol in a while, I admit :P). Chocolate truffle cake was good too (: Gift exchange totally put me to shame- I'd made Ernest a mixed CD with songs that I felt kinda aptly described our journey together thus far. He poked some fun by asking me the significance of the choice of songs. Haha. Plus, it's so cheapo as compared to the Fossil purse + photos + Starbucks card (with the design I wanted quite badly). I only hope he likes it (:

Last is Valentines' Day itself. School called AGAIN and Ernest and I only met for dinner. At the Arts Canteen. HAHA. We chilled after that since we had time before my late class. Only that I received a call notifying me that I had a delivery. No prizes who it was from (: And I was pleasantly surprised cos' that was the final thing (and actually perhaps the only thing I asked for. Heh I'd actually wanted a stalk. He went a step further!). A bouquet of roses and a helium balloon arrived and it was perhaps the perfect ending of Valentines' Day.

Thank you, Ernest, for all you've done. I wish I'd asked for less cos' you don't ask me for much all the time. You're such a blessing to me, such a joy in my life. I love you with all my heart and I pray that our love story never ends.

Love.

Tonight the boyfriend and I went for Blue Moo. We met Rheyza and her friends, who happened to be there too, and we finally got a table to share, after just taking seats at the rooftop because it was only the 2 of us who went then.

Budak sang a host of love-themed songs tonight, and it was pretty great. Most of them were songs I'd already heard before, but they had a couple of songs which were from WAY back from when I was younger (like secondary school sorta thing), not yet a Budak fan, and at a time when I hadn't even met my boyfriend (who actually introduced me to them!) yet. Haha. As per usual, I enjoyed all of the songs they performed, especially when I tried to pay attention to the lyrics they were singing; cos lyrics just makes music more meaningful (:

Budak did a few crazy things tonight. Haha. Michael had his parents attend the gig tonight- so because of it, either he had to 'behave' himself, or for whatever silly things he did, Gordon (and other Budak Pantai members) had to 'apologise' on his behalf. Haha. But it was all in the name of good fun, otherwise Blue Moo would just be a boring affair and I wouldn't be talking about it now. Along the same lines, I was particularly intrigued by Michael's mouth-pop-sound thing. Gosh. Haha. A small boy in a big boy's body :P

On the way back the boyfriend and I had the 'couple-talk'. Nothing too serious, just about Valentines' Day coming up and all. It's gonna be our 3rd Valentines' together while for most of his friends, it's gonna be their first with their significant other half. Haha. Plus the way the boyfriend said it was very funny. :P We talked about how our significant dates are evenly spread across the year, and how it's very much desired by girls, but perhaps not so for guys. Haha. Practical and cash versus keeping things special. Heh. I'm lucky in this case (: And we also concluded that we are old birds. 3rd Valentines' together this year. But it's a good thing, eh?

With that it's time to end and rest! Semi-big day tomorrow and I need my sleep!!

Double Date!

♥ 7:16 pm

It was some fun stuff with the other couple this afternoon. We did some major catching up before Mich leaves for exchange in Austria, and well, before all hell breaks loose (from school) during the following months to come. We talked about many many things- from accounting stuff (Mich studies accounting like me), driving (where we had some debate among ourselves hahaha), case laws (James studies law), road trips (since all 4 of us can finally drive!)......It was very reminiscent of the first double date we had 2 years back (also in beginning February that year!) and till the next time 4 of us meet for a double date again, I'll miss us together!

The 4 of us, 2 years ago (:
